Why
THIS IS THE TIME TO GET UNCOMFORTABLE
We are at a historic moment of reckoning.
Previous moments of awakening have fizzled as false starts. In the past, most good people have ignored, excused, or unwittingly enabled racist mechanisms. In the past, most good people have felt paralyzed by the enormity of the problem. In the past, most good people have not organized.
As GSB alumni, we have power.
As GSB alumni, we share a bond of trust, love, and concern.
These are the truths that have inspired the Allies99 movement.
Our Mandate: A Closer Look
1
Understand
Curate the best resources to advance our understanding of systemic racism: its sources and its consequences.
Learn what allyship in our workplaces and communities looks like.
Reflect on our own blind spots and behaviors we need to learn/unlearn.
2
Organize
Identify areas of action ("Swim Lanes" that feel personally meaningful and/or leverage our personal skills.
Pledge to take measurable actions.
3
Act
Inspire fellow classmates and other GSB alumni to join this movement
Influence/enable others in our workplaces, communities, and homes to be better allies.
Track and hold ourselves accountable with specific, quantifiable metrics.
